Bishop Stanton visited St. Matthias Church, in the City of Athens, on October 28. Fr. Don Perschall greeted the Bishop on his arrival. The day was clear and sunny, just right for the Confirmation service about to occur. The small photos at left are glimpses of the festive day. The acolytes were in place for the service. The choir was prepared. The Bishop stands with Fr. Perschall. A great reception followed the service. The last photo is a picture of the Confirmands. The congregation honored the Bishop with a beautiful birthday cake, and the gift of a rosary. Fr. Perschall offered the customary birthday blessing to the Bishop and another member of St. Matthias. Deacon Pam Dunbar assisted the Bishop.
